We are delighted to announce CSD have been appointed on behalf of BAM Construction to provide the detailed MEP Design from Stage 2 through to Stage 6 for the redevelopment of Wetherby High School.

Key design features

  • Net Zero Carbon in Operation: The new education facility is being built with high sustainability standards to be Net Zero Carbon in Operation. This focus on sustainability includes efficient energy, lighting, and ventilation systems.
  • Modern amenities: The design incorporates all the amenities of a modern secondary school. Specifics mentioned include:
    • New teaching spaces
    • Sports facilities
    • Hard and soft sports areas
    • Sports pitches
    • Social areas
  • Reduced footprint: The new building will have a smaller footprint than the current one, which was spread out across the site in a 1960s tower block and other structures.
  • Minimal disruption during construction: The project has been planned to ensure the school can remain fully operational during construction, causing minimal disruption to both students and neighbours.
  • Designed for a 900-place school: While an earlier proposal mentioned a 900-place school, the new building is sized to accommodate the current number of pupils and curriculum requirements. Some people noted that the building presented at the consultation looked small, suggesting the new design is a more compact and efficient use of space.

Subject to planning approval, building work is due to begin in Spring  2026 with overall completion by the end of 2028.
