Trinity Walk Shopping Centre | Wakefield

Scope:

A 46,451m2 retail park/shopping centre comprising of two large public squares, 70 retail units of varying sizes, and 8918.7m2 store for Debenhams. Sainsbury’s and their 8547m2 store, which feeds directly onto a 1000 space car park, took the lower floor of the development.
The project comprised of a 7.5MVA electrical supply distributed via 9 new-dedicated transformers. From the transformers LV supplies were routed within the landlords’ areas to feed the 70No retail units.

In addition to the LV supplies all 70 units were provided with metered water supplies, above ground drainage and a number of gas supplies with capacity provided within the Gas infrastructure for future connections by additional units.

Life safety systems were installed consisting of a Sprinkler system to serve landlords service yard areas and valved connections provided to shop units over 2000m2 to allow future fit out by fit-out contractors. Fire Alarm system providing L1 coverage to all landlords’ areas, which also included a combination off window actuators, smoke shafts and AOV’s. The fire alarm system had to also provide interfacing ability with each retail unit to deliver a complex cause and effect strategy obtained from numerous meetings with Fire Officer & Building control. Other life safety systems include PAVA & Disabled refuge.

Smoke ventilation systems were provided to serve 2No service yard areas and an underground car park. Dry Risers were provided to all fire fighting stairs.

The scheme had a central security office where all essential life safety and security systems were housed to ensure the central HUB of the building could be in operation during potential Hazards. The security room was provided with supply and extract ventilation and comfort cooling.
All areas were monitored and controlled via a building management system.

Landlords back of house electric heating, domestic services to public toilets, lighting, power, an extensive CCTV and data infrastructure were also installed.

A £300k feature lighting and lighting controls system were installed throughout the public areas/Mall
