Scope:

Storm Jameson Court (Charles Morris Hall) is a student residence complex at the heart of the University of Leeds campus consisting of two 8 story buildings around a landscaped courtyard, providing 457 study bedrooms inclusive of 23 fully accessible bedroom rooms and 72 kitchenettes. Additional University facilities include a Common room for the use of the students, offices staff facilities, meetings rooms and a laundry.

The University required a student residence complex for a large number of students that could also be used to accommodate participants of conferences that will take place at the University in the summer months.

The mechanical & electrical services comprised of a central tanked boosted cold water supply to all cold water outlets except WC cisterns which are fed from a central rainwater recycling system which collects, filters and treats the water before being reused for WC flushing. Hot water is produced from central steam to domestic hot water storage calorifiers and distributed to all hot water outlets. Space heating is provided via steel panel radiators with manual TRV heat control fed from steam to LPHW plate heat exchangers. Extract ventilation from the en-suite shower pods is connected to central roof mounted constant pressure extract fans with make up air provided via trickle ventilators. Soil and waste drainage is discharged to drain via a gravity, acoustically treated above ground drainage system. The common room has an automatically controlled natural ventilation system installed, which provides both fresh air and primary cooling of the space. This is supplemented by VRF heatin cooling units, which provide additional summer cooling when required along with winter heating of the space.

HV modifications and LV electrical supplies to each block via a dedicated campus substation, Lighting, lighting controls, Power, Fire Alarm, CCTV (with connection to the existing campus system), Door entry, Disabled refuge, Fire Fighting and Evacuation lift installations. Structure cabling to each room to allow for future IPTV installation and internet connections (WIFI also installed throughout). External lighting to perimeter and internal courtyard. Special attention paid to the installation of 23No fully accessible bedrooms to comply with DDA legislation and the Universities stringent standards.
